PEAR Training Intelligence was born from the desire to make the latest training science accessible and usable for anyone looking to attain a fitness or performance goal. Developed by a passionate team of entrepreneurs with athletic, technology and design backgrounds. The PEAR vision is simple –to train smarter and enjoy it so that you can get the most out of each workout and accomplish your goals.

PEAR understands that there is more to performance than just science, and that attaining goals also requires a little bit of magic: the boost you get from an upbeat song, a coaching cue that inspires you to dig deeper, a brand new workout to keep you motivated. PEAR takes care of the scientific calculations so you, the PEAR athlete, can focus on following your training plan, running your workouts and taking your performances to new heights.

Heart rate based training has long been acknowledged as one of the most accurate and effective training methods for reaching athletic and fitness performance goals. Understanding how to plan rate based workouts and interpreting them is tedious, confusing and time consuming. What do those measurements really mean? And while you’re working out, add to that having to calculate and monitor your time, pace, and distance, and the need to look at your watch to stay on track. PEAR eliminates the distraction and the difficulty of using and understanding a heart rate monitor, the chore of calculating your pace and distance and the need to look down at your watch.

  1. Is this a tool for running only? Are there cycling and swimming training programs too? I ask as it seems geared to triathletes.

    • The PEAR Square One is not just for running. There is cycling and spin workouts. The PEAR Plan Store also has stretching and gym workouts with other sports and activities being added.
      Currently there are no swim programs and the PEAR is not water proof.

  2. Do you have an answer for Amber’s question, it has been 5 months: “Hi Pear folks! Is there any movement in porting the application over to Android-based phones also?”

  3. Love the product. My son, wife, and I each have one and use it religiously. One suggestion I have is to creating the ability to label a free format workout. I don’t always just run free format. I have other workouts that I use the Free Format capability and it would be helpful to remember what I did for a given workout, i.e. weightlifting, running, or even snow shoveling. Does this capability exist and I just missed it?


    • Hi Steven- If you go into your portal (my.pearsports.com) and use the credentials that you use to sign into your Pear App, you can go into the calendar and add notes about the Free Format Workout you completed.
